Entity's PRISM
Peace of Mind - Daily Message Management
Entity’s PRISM Software is designed to be a fully functional message management tool for day-to-day use.
It is designed for enterprises, small, medium or large, that do not wish to invest in message mapping tools.
The thinking behind PRISM is that message mapping, that is setting up the translation map between an EDI standard
and your business applications, happens infrequently, usually once at set up, and it is not cost effective for an
organisation to invest in expensive specialist skills and software tools in house. The alternative PRISM approach is to separate out the implementation from the operation.
PRISM provides for peace of mind daily operation. PRISM manages the messages as they are sent and received, moving
them when needed to the place they should be, in the required format, logging what happens and highlighting errors that may occur.
Message maps are then purchased as a one time set up cost. Typically the effort to set up a map is between 1 and 5
days, depending on the size, complexity and standards used.
The result is that PRISM has a much lower cost than other types of EDI software, because it does not include the
functions that you will not use.
PRISM is designed to connect to Information Exchange the leading Global Value Added Network provider. Information Exchange is robust, secure and provides full track and trace facilities and it does this at a
price that is generally significantly lower than competitor services. If your trading partners are registered on
other networks Information Exchange provides a full interconnect service that enables messages to be exchanged with these networks.
PRISM offers service reliability, ease of use and value for money. It is an unbeatable proposition.
Managing the EDI Message
Functions
-using a user friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface), PRISM is designed to allow the user to specify the
following:
- connection method; connections can be scheduled using the Windows services
- mailbox
- trading Partners
- trading Partner details, e.g. mailboxes, test mailboxes, etc
- messages – sending, including parameters
- messages – receiving, including parameters
PRISM - How it works
PRISM uses a Windows Explorer style hierarchy of folders to manage the set up and operate the EDI
relationships.
The PRISM software manages the messages and the translation of messages to and from your trading partner
according to the installed message maps. It supports EDIFACT and TRADACOMS. Other support is available
please enquire.
PRISM uses FTP connection to the internet. This may be dial up from a stand alone PC or it may be from
a networked PC using the corporate internet connection. [In the latter case there will be Firewall policy
issues that will need to be addressed. Entity can advise you on these issues should you choose the route
across your Firewall.
FTP provides for file level recovery. This is the recommended recovery level when using the FTP gateway
into Information Exchange. If a connection session fails the system will re-dial a set number of times
(parameter driven) to ensure that all data are uploaded and downloaded.
An audit trail is maintained with parameter settings to adjust the level to suit the activity. For example,
during the testing, a high level of audit may be desirable, but for subsequent operational use you may
select a lower level.
Hardware
You will need to have suitable hardware on which to run these applications, such as:
- Windows 2000 (or above) PC
- connection to the internet
The cost of this equipment is not included.
